New York’s Setback

I’ve already posted about the New York Senate’s disappointing rejection of the same-sex marriage bill today, and I don’t need to write much about how devastated I am or about the implications this has for future movement in this state. I just wanted to share Senator Diane Savino’s speech, which I thought was a touching and thoughtful exploration of the current state of marriage. “We have nothing to fear from people who are committed to each other, who want to share their lives and protect one another…we have nothing to fear from love and commitment.”
