Some positive body image parenting notes from the wise and beautiful Kate Winslet (Oh how I love her…)
Kate Winslet has always been the actress in Hollywood to embrace her body and not conform to the pressures and expectations of the industry. She has begun to teach her daughter that it is okay to have a little meat on one’s bones.
“I’ve just started subtly telling Mia, ‘I love my belly. You and Joe came out of there. I’m proud of my belly and I’m proud of my hips. I love my body’ “I want to give her something to her that is empowering so when she comes into her teenage years she feels confident in herself.”

I think its great that celebrities (some) are publicly denouncing the “skinny movement” and are striving for a healthier sense of self for themselves and their families. However, Kate Winslet and others are still skinny and are never caught without makeup and designer clothes on. What kind of message does this send?
